Here are the latest main enhancements released with SwarPlug
SwarPlug engine previously supported both sampled and physically-modeled voices. Now we have added a new Hybrid technology, which is used in the latest Expansion Pack 11 for Sarod and Sitar. This new technology combines the realism of high quality samples with the flexibility of physically-modeled sounds.
You can customize the mix for each string by selecting its rectangle and then adjusting the gain knobs. Or globally by clicking on the Force checkbox.
SwarPlug 5 now also includes a standalone app that allows you to play the instruments without any DAW. You'll find the app in the Applications (Mac) or Programs (Windows) folders. You can select the audio device in the AUDIO SETTINGS button, and even assign a MIDI controller to play directly.
You can now flag a playing style (specific string, etc...) in the KEYMAPS pane to retrigger the note when the key is released. This allows for fast trills, like playing DereDere on Sitar/Sarod.
For voices that have a Chikari type of string (Sitar, Sarod, Surbahar, Veena, ...) you can now assign a key to trigger this stroke, tuned to the pitch of your choice. This is very convenient for playability, specially on smaller keyboards.
Arohas refers to the ascending scale of a Raga, Avaroha to the descending one. Previously SwarPlug was just using each raga note once to build that. We have now updated all the 100+ featured ragas with their natural ascending and descending scales.
You can trigger them by hitting on the keys assigned for that, or press the Play button in SCALES pane.
In cross-samples portamento, where the destination sample is slowly faded in, it is important that any attack of the sample is omitted, so we don't hear it when gliding. This new TRIM knob lets you remove a certain number of milliseconds from the attack, so your glides will be smoother on instruments with sharp attacks as well.
When cross-velocity option is selected, modulating the velocity of a note cross-fades between samples of different velocity ranges. Previously the fading time was fixed to a second. Now you can customize that at wish.
We took the occasion of jumping to version 5 to refresh the look and feel of the plugin. We hope you'll like this new, cleaner interface.
The Control Keys defined to navigate across multiple rows in Keymaps pane are now displayed in a button. When clicked, SwarPlug always returns to first row on key release.
Supports the new Expansion Pack 10 for Santoor. This new multi-layered, round-robin and multi-mics virtual instrument provides the most realistic emulation so far of the magnificent Indian dulcimer.
A special care has been put in reproducing the subtle and brilliant trills so characteristic of the instrument.
A new “Starting Pitch” knob lets you initiate notes with a fast pitch bending from up to 3 notes above or below, to simulate a common playing style. As with all parameters in SP, it can be limited to a specific playing style in Keymaps and can also be modulated using a MIDI CC.
You can now scroll through Keymaps rows using the modulation wheel instead of (or in conjuction with) predefined keys. Please note that if this is used, the MIDI CC generated by the mod wheel will be ignored from any modulation defined in the MODULATORS pane.
A “One Shot” button now lets you play notes/strokes without holding the key.
A new MICS pane has been added for voices samples using multiple mics. In this new pane, you can now fully customize the mix between mics.
We have improved the Instrument Browser to separate instruments from voices. You now first select an instrument, and then you see the voice(s) available for it.
For instruments with separate parts like drums, you now have the possibility to direct the pitch bending events to one and/or the other side.
In instruments having separate parts like drums, you can now adjust the gain difference of the alternate side of the drum, like Bayan for Tabla.
Expansion Pack 1 (EP01) now contains 6 drums (3 Tablas, a Dholak, a Pakhawaj and a Naal) with Round-Robin functionality. Toggle it on/off in the Keymaps pane.
We are renaming Multi-Layer (ML) Packs as Expansion Packs (EP) because our library currently also includes physically-modeled voices, and should be having hybrid ones in the near future.
Improved bowed strings voices (including possibility to turn Accent Use on/off for high velocities)
AAX plugin (Pro Tools) now also includes native Silicon binaries.
